Hey everyone, new to this site and I have an upgrade question. I have the old Aurora m7700 (D9K), and I was wondering if there's a compatible motherboard I can upgrade to. I really just need more RAM (and I guess a new processor too), but the slots on this board are for the old RAM, and there's only 2 slots so i can only get 2 gb's worth in there. I guess I'm ready to throw a lil money into this thing and make it a lil more up to date, so if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Also, if upgrading the motherboard, what processor is recommended? Thanks, Jason

The D9K is the best/fastest motherboard for that old Clevo chassis.
It was thee first dual core laptop board and can easily hold its own against modern dual core mobos. With an FX-60 cpu in there and AMD's latest cpu drivers you've still got one of the fastest XP os laptops running on two cores.
It's just a shame 7950 cards are as high as you can go for graphics.

Yea if I had actually forked over the extra 1300$, you would be right. Unfortunately I didn't, and DO NOT have the dual core processor or the supporting mobo. I know, I know, but I was in the Air Force back when I bought it and wasnt making enough money to justify the extra grand at the time, I was planning on stuffing it full of that later, and just never got around to it til now. I don't really use it for gaming anymore so the graphics card isnt really that important, but from the sounds of it I should probably look at getting that fx60 processor in there along with that mobo?? Anywhere you know I can find it?? (O, and I have windows 7 on it.......and wish I hadn't installed it, which is another reason i need more RAM).

If you've got a D9K mobo you're ready to install a dual core cpu.
    There's a socket 939 FX-60 on Ebay right now here: AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 Duo-Core 2.6GHz ADAFX60DAA6CD 939 | eBay
Wipe Windows 7 off it and return to Windows XP 32 bit. Those excellent AMD cpu drivers make the cpu work a lot more efficiently in 32 bit. XP 32 bit goes like stink on those D900k boards running dual core.

ok, but that doesn't solve my original problem of not enough RAM. If I throw that cpu in I definitely need more RAM, and in this case the mobo only takes ddr1 and there is only 2 slots, so I can't really get that much in there. Thx for your help so far
