Hello everyone. First I want to apologize if there is already a thread on this. I absolutely did try to use the search and advanced search feature with no luck at all. I've seen BatBoy's thread on a clean install for Alienware systems but it seemed to be focused on laptops instead of desktops. The problem I'm having is I bought an Aurora R3 online for a fairly goo.... great deal, however the computer it's self didn't come with an operating system (yes I was aware). The hard drive has been completely wiped. It still has the COA sticker/ product key for Windows 7 Pro on the back. I'm trying to figure out how to reinstall my OS. Is there a download link where I can download the proper OS for the Alienware system onto a USB drive and install that way or is there an entire process that has to be done in a specific order such as installing each drive or what not? Keep in mind that I am extremely NEW to the depths of the PC world. When it comes to using a computer system it's self, I'm flawless. When it comes to tech talk and software/hardware, installations of drivers, etc., I'm completely new and have only begun to understand the raw basics. If ANYONE would be so kind as to help me out instead of making me wait on hold for hours at a time, I would really appreciate that. :)

Any windows 7 pro (or multi version) disc should work and activate with the key just fine. It used to be you had to get the disc through shady-er ways but now looks like Microsoft offers them with a valid windows key https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/home

If that doesn't work then buy a cheap one on ebay. I would get a disc w/ SP1 included as there may be issues if you try to activate a SP1 windows key with a SP0 Win 7 install.

If you only want to do light gaming are not tied to window and just want an OS to get the pc running consider downloading the latest version of Linux Mint. No keys required.

If you want to try Windows 10 you can legally download an ISO from microsoft. Since any valid Windows 7+ key is good for an upgrade to Windows 10 you may be able to use your key for that. http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/you-can-now-download-the-windows-10-iso-disk-image/
