I have the m15x with a 9800m GT. I started noticing the gpu slowly dying.. I was getting artifacts and the display driver kept crashing then recovering. The gpu finally just booted to a bsod. I ended up purchasing a new 8800m gtx advertised as a m15x and m17x replacement on ebay. I installed it last night and the computer boots up but the screen never turns on, i hear the startup sounds but no power to the screen. Only way to use the computer is to hold the mouse button to activate integrated mode. I tried booting with a external monitor but still didnt get a signal. In integrated mode I checked the device manager and I didn't see the gpu.

Is my new gpu DOA? or does it have something to do with the fact that its a 8800m and not a 9800m?

I have 7 days to return the card so I want to make sure i try everything before I do. Any ideas?

I'd probably get it RMA'ed ASAP, did the one you bought come out of a m15x also? Not too familiar with the the way the vid cards are in the m15x, but could it be that this card maybe has a different vbios on it?

The ebay listing said it was for a M15x and M17x, the seller sold many of them with positive feedback, thats why I was second guessing myself before assuming the card was dead.
