hi, i have area-51 m15x since late 2008. I dont really like the laptop i must say since they use plastic for their laptop hinge :( (and i hate their service, so I actually "modified" it by myself, and now it's working as great)

I have another problem though that I want to ask you guys...my VGA card seems to be broken. Of course i cant claim warranty since it's already expired a long time ago. I want to replace my nVidia GeForce 9800M GT with a new one, especially because I know nobody sell GeForce 9800M GT separately (or there is?)...im doubtful though if the motherboard allow me to do so? Are we able to change the vga card in the laptop manually? If yes, do I need to buy mobile specific vga card or I can use any vga card? If it's mobile specific, where can I get one?

oh also one more question, seems like my battery is "dropped", i mean it's like every time you use the laptop the battery always at 20% stage if not less (it's still usable but seems depleting very fast). Where can I buy new one? There's dell official store in my country but they are retarded, i am looking to buy from another source

    you can replace the vga card by a 8600 a 8800 a 9800 or a ati 3870
(or you can bake your old card back to life)
all the nvidia cards are likely to fail in a couple month or years cause they have a fabrication defect the ati one how ever require an new heatsink and sadly i have no idea where you can find one

most part should be availible on www.ztronics.com

if they are not you will need to deal with alienware directly

The Hd3870 used the same heatsink as the 8800GTX/9800M GT

guys, i have tried to disassemble as best as i could, but i couldn't find the vga card :( apparently it's on-board, i dont have any experience going that far...

and thanks for suggesting me about ViDock kind of stuff but that's expensive for me especially because i have to import it (nobody sell it here) :(

so i guess i would just stick with my Intel GMA crappy vga card :(

I just checked the prices at ztronics.com. I must say you can get most of the lower powered cards for HALF the price. This includes the fx 3600m (at least I personally can get this one) and 8700m, quite easy to find for 150 and under on Ebay.

You used to be able to grab FX3700M's for under $200. I did and put it in my M9750, hah.
