OK, so I am using Paragon to clone my internal to an external Kingston 128 GB SSD. The clone process goes well and I can see the files in place when the drive is connected through USB. When I install the SSD in the m15x and power up, it hangs on a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left.
I figure it is a BIOS issue or a boot issue in Win7.
Has anyone experienced this issue? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

i think that this would be a bios incompatibility
-
The bios sees the drive fine, but I agree with your conclusion. So I guess the Area 51 m15x x36 bios can't work with an SSD and I am betting Dell has little plans for an update to the bios...
-
Maybe the cloning didnt clone the boot partition. If the drive wasnt supported, then it wouldnt be visible in the bios, and you would get a message saying you cant boot from any device -
Try boot the Windows 7 installation CD and go to repair/recover.

yes, their conclusions seem to be right
i wish you can resolve this problem -
Thanks everyone. I am going to try the repair function using the Win7 disk. I will update after I have an answer.
Thanks. -
i would recommend doing a clean install with your ssd. take longer but end result will always be better than cloning,

I am going to try Win7 repair. If that does not work, then I will have to do the clean install and deal with any driver issue I may encounter.
Thanks! -
Would Trim be enabled if you do a clone like that?
-
Repare did not work, so I reformatted the drive and reinstalled Win7 and everything is working well.
Can anyone provide me with the thread on the proper driver install sequence? I can't find it in a search.
Thanks.
Oh and the SSD is FAST!!! -
