I've got the M9750. I'm running on 2 x 1 gig right now and was hoping to upgrade. Figured, well, why go for 4 when I can do 8 and I'll do it. Just want to know whether my system would be capable of utilizing all 8 gigs. I understand that all that's required is a 64 bit OS, which I have (Win7 x64). So I'm just checking my bases before making a costly purchase only to later find out that I need a certain type of mobo or some such. Your help is appreciated and will ease my ailing mind. Many thanks!

The OS isn't everything; your Windows won't have any trouble whatsoever to use 8 gigs but I'm not sure the motherboard actually supports it.

Then there's the question, why 8 gigs in an older laptop? Until recently my fulltower pc had 3 gigs... I upgraded it only because the Witcher 2 was choppy.

The M9750 can only use 4 GB of ram max. I am not totally sure but I don't think it will even use all of the 4 GB

Well, I use AutoCAD, Goldwave and the office suite. While it's capable of running it, I'm in the habit of trying to run as many things as possible at once.

I'll occasionally do TF2 and want a full browser available (not the Steam in-game). Sometimes even a music program on top of that. ^_^

That's why I want as much memory as possible.

Alright, so it won't utilize all 8 gigs, will one 4 gig stick be permissible on this? Figure I may as well future proof seeing how it will be utilized in a future system, assuming I can get DDR3...or if DDR2 will still be the norm in another year or so. Hmm, all DDR3 seems to be 204 pins. Stuck with 200. Guess I'll nab the 2x2gig set. Thanks for your replies.
