    Hi guys... need help!
Several years ago I bought this laptop and everything worked great until my GPU (7950 gtx) went bad. Recently I bought a new 9700m gt from ebay and had a MXM structure... bla bla... 30 second beeping. I've fixed that with flashing the vbios and fixing the hex string with an option that I've found on another forum.
Everything works great now except the booting for the second time. By second time I mean: when I turn on my laptop OS comes up and everything works. If I have to shut down/power up or restart I get black screen. I don't see alien head, no post screen, I can hear Windows welcome screen sound but no picture.
If I wait for 15-20 sometimes 30 minutes it boots up normally.

Sorry I missed that, my quick thing to try would be another mxm card to see if the behavior is the same. I would first suspect the card. For some reason I think I have read someone had a similar issue when they changed their mxm card but could be wrong.

I don't think that's the case here. When it boots up for the first time I can spent hours in OS and everything works great. The problem occures when I have to reboot or shut down/power up. It boots with no picture. Maybe it's a bios problem with voltages on powering. What is the newest bios for m9750? Even the temperatures are normal so it's not overheating or something like that. The problem is if I forgot something after I shut it down I have to wait 15-30 minutes to power it up with screen again.

btw: the card is brand new and I don't have another to try it out.

Sorry for not being clear, when I said I suspect the card, I did not mean the card was bad, I meant more that it may not be fully compatible with your m9750. For example, the HD4650 & HD4850 both work in my laptop using the built-in screen however due to card compatibility my DVI out port does not work on my m5750. I don't remember the nvidia 9700 being a factory option for the m9750, and even if it was you would need to make sure the new 9700 has the correct VBIOS for your laptop. But my suspicions are that between the VBIOS of the card, and BIOS of the laptop, there is an incompatibility issue when you reboot the unit.

I think the same thing. Incompatibility with two bioses. Is there on this forum or enywhere else you found this topic? Did anyone do a custom bios or found a bios that is compatible with newer cards? Thanks for the reply.

I can't remember where I thought I saw someone had similar issues or even if it was with a 9700 card. I have heard the 3870 works great in your unit but if you can't live with the reboot problem, and want a card that you know will work I'd stick with one of the type of cards your laptop originally came with unless you don't mind reselling on ebay.
