    Hi all,

    First sorry for my english...
I have laptop Alienware m5790. This laptop has Phoenix bios. I want to mount in this laptop SSD hard disk. In the bios there is no AHCI option. On the laptop motherboard are two controllers:
    a) VIA VT6421A RAID Controller
    link to the manufacturer's website:
    http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/peripherals/serial-ata_raid/vt6421a/
    b) Intel 82801GBM Controller Hub (ICH7M) - this controller in hardware support AHCI mode
    link to the manufacturer's website:
    http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/io/i-o-controller-hub-7-datasheet.html

I would like to in this bios:
    1) totally disabled in bios VIA VT6421A RAID Controller
    2) enabled in bios only Intel 82801GBM Controller Hub (ICH7M)
    3) add on this laptop bios Intel AHCI Option ROM BIOS compatible with Intel 82801GBM Controller Hub (ICH7M)
    4) disabled in bios combined mode PATA-SATA and have only SATA or where possible enhanced mode
    5) add new option in laptop bios: AHCI mode

This is link to download bios files for this laptop:

Please help me to make changes to the laptop bios.

    Thank you very much

A custom BIOS is a pretty aggressive goal that I've seem few in here do. I just use my SSD with the regular BIOS options. If you tackle this yourself let us know how it goes.

Just to say that I was using an Ssd capped at 120mb/s and it still helps. It still feels snappy even if it's stuck in IDE mode because of the faster random access times and write speed.

The best option would be for You to make a request on bios-mods.com forum. This laptop have Phoenix bios then post request on Phoenix Unlocking sub forum . But You have to understand that adding new options to the bios is out of reach the question because it's to complicated. Guys can only unhid options which are already incorporated into the bios. If there is something about AHCI then it can be unhidden if not then nothing can be done. I remember ass well that someone on this forum was unlocking Phoenix bioses, maybe on Acer forum. But it was long time ego. Oh Yes here he is: kizwan: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/acer-laptop-with-phoenix-bios-bios-mod-request.480992/. But this thread is closed from 3 years now and kizwan isn't doing this anymore. Best direction would be bios-mods then.

If you do the effort of getting the project off the ground others may be willing to chip in. But just asking someone to set everything up and read where to even start will probably result in the topic getting buried fast.
