My AW has a broken screen or inverter. Screen doesn't light up, so I know what the problem is. I had it hooked to my flat panel and I re installed Windows 7. After I re installed, I installed the Nvidia driver cause I was on the Nvidia card. Then I switched to the Intel Integrated card, and re booted like it said. Now I can't get it to work with my flat panel. Its hooked up right, it just won't show anything on the screen. I can hear the Windows login sound, but nothing on screen. I am about to order the screen, keyboard, and inverter. But beforeI do I want to make sure its not busted.

Could the integrated card be broken? Also can I run this laptop with out a discreet video card? And now while i'm looking at it, theres a power button by the graphics card?

Also some of the keys on the keyboard don't work

    Thanks :D

I thought my backlights or inverter was broken for a long time before i did anything about it. After months of being hooked up to a flat panel i started to get artifacts all over. Thats when I called support and the guy said to just take the 9800gt out. The laptop screen turned out to be fine it was just the gpu dying. Taking the card out wasn't tough, there are guides in the AW FAQ.

After taking my 9800 out the dvi didn't work and i'm pretty sure i remember reading that the onboard doesn't support it.

Ok so if I take my 8600m out and turn it on. It might work? The screen may work?

Right. I would try taking the 8600m out first before buying and installing a new inverter. If its just the 8600 that is bad then the laptop display should come back to life.

Keep in mind you'll need to clean up the old thermal compound and apply a new layer if you put the 8600 back in. So, have some arctic silver on hand.

Ok I just tried it. It didn't work. I heard the Windows login sound but thats it. One thing was when I tilted the screen back and forth, it made the new device noise. I have some Antec Formula 5 to put on it.

    Thanks for the replies. :)

Ok I got my new screen in and it still didn't work. So I checked the VGA cable, and it had come undone at the motherboard. I have the screen for sale at the NBR market place if anyone wants it.
