I have two M9750 laptops. I had a problem with my 1st laptop and couldn't get it fixed so I bought another, used. The 2nd laptop has a graphic issue so it didn't help. Both have the 1600 x 1200 display.

The problem is that I cannot shut down the laptop without manually holding the start button down to force a shut down. It actually takes a little trick. Shut down normally. Then when the laptop is just about to start up... press and hold start button. Most of the time this will shut down and stay off, but not always. Sometimes I have too pull the battery after making sure it isn't plugged in.

We have the "doner" unit to use for parts.

Geek Squad will not work on this and I love the laptop.

    Ideas on a fix?
