This is my first posting. I have a friend with an Alienware area 51 PC. When the system boots there are no beeps and the LEDs show 23 / and (I think) 45 or 46. I have swapped out the memory and tried a new PSU. I also tried replacing the graphics card but the system is exactly the same with a (known working) Nvidia GT8500 card in the PCIe slot, replacing the big original card.

The only interesting thing is that with NO card installed the system beeps and then halts with C1 shown on the MB LEDs.

Is it a dead MB or should I keep trying? If so, what next? Will any PCIe card work with this PC?

    thanks
    R

It sounds like you are describing a desktop but you are asking this in the notebook forum. You would probably get better answers in the desktop section.
