OK, so ive had this thing for over a year now, got it from a friend that is very hacker savy, but not hardware savy so he sold it to me.
The problem is the port where you plug in the charger. when you plug it in it sparks. This is a common fault in this laptop but there was never a recall. I took the laptop apart and took out the daughter board for the charger port. I replaced the actual plugin on the daughter board but it still sparks.
I've looked everywhere and can not find the actual complete daughter board for it.
The laptop is 3-4 years old but its a very good laptop and i would like to use and upgrade it if i could.
Does anyone know anywhere i could find that board?
Ive tried to bypass the daughter board by making the lead captive by soldering it directly to the pads but im not sure if it worked because the charger is giving me that beeping noise, Idk if its toast or is it something else?
I made sure i didn't short it out but i dont know if i had shorted the charger out before.
The charger came to me brand new with the laptop but i plugged it into the laptop before i even tried to fix it just to see wht would happen and it sparked.
Thanks for any ones help on this.
I cant get Alienware support because i dont ahve the account ID for it.
