    What would you choose?

    a) 12GB 1333MHz (3x4GB) Tri Channel Memory
    OR
    b) 6GB 1600MHz (3x2GB) Tri Channel Memory

It really depends. If the cpu supports 1600mhz then I would go with the 6gb but if it didnt i would just pick up 6gb of 1333mhz. Unless your doin some ram intensive tasks theres no need for more than 4gb.

    Thanks for your thoughts GallardosEggrollshop.

Processor will be Intel i7 & the main demanding use will be handling HD footage.

I'm confused which of the above memory options would be better. There's only a 20 quid price difference between them with the 1600mhz being the most expensive.

Since i7's support 1600mhz memory I would recommend going with the 6gb. Should be more than enough to encode HD video and it is noticibly faster than 1333mhz even though you get more ram with the 12gb. For HD video your main concern should be the processor since that will be doing the bulk of the encoding work.
