    Hi,
    I have a 2008 Alienware M15x which has been running almost flawlessly up 'til now...
    Yesterday when I booted up my M15x it brought up an error saying

    "Alienware AlienFX Controller

    System.ApplicationException: Invalid system manufacturer.
    at AlienLabs.AlienFX.Tools.ObjectFactory.NewCommunicationService()
    at AlienLabs.AlienFX.Controller.LightsZoneController..ctor()
    at AlienLabs.AlienFX.Controller.ControllerMainForm..ctor()
    at AlienLabs.AlienFX.Controller.App.AppStartup(Object sender, StartupEventArgs args) "
    (Pic here : http://i45.tinypic.com/10qb9ty.jpg)

    When I open up the Command Center and click on "FX" it brings up this message "There are important settings missing in the application in order to complete the creation of a new theme. The only functionality you have available is opening an existing theme.\r\n Please reinstall the Alienware AlienFX software. "
    (Pic here: http://i46.tinypic.com/rjl0ll.jpg)

    I couldn't find the Alienware AlienFX application to download off the MyHive page, so instead I just uninstalled and reinstalled the Alienware Command Center, but that did nothing.

    I'm a bit of a computer noob, so you may have to explain some things (i.e. fixes, or how to run some diagnostic) which may seem somewhat simple to yourself.

    Any help would be much appreciated :)

    Btw, I am running Windows Vista, and I haven't installed any new software recently...though I did have a few Windows Updates a few days go.

    Uninstall Command Center, reboot, run some type of registry cleaner to erase all mention of it, reboot, reinstall the latest version from the Dell Drivers and Downloads page. You might need to update your BIOS to A06 before installing the new Command Center if you haven't already.

    This is my suggestion, maybe there's another fix out there.

    I didn't have a spare cd to put BIOS A06 on, but I uninstalled it, then used CCleaner to fix any registry errors, then reinstalled the command center, and now it works :) .
    Thanks very much for the help :)

    do not install the bios A06, that is not meant for your system. you have the area 51 system, doing so may cause serious problems for your system.

    Name is correct - and Command Center for the current M15x (Dell/AW) model is not meant for the legacy m15x you have. This is probably why you are seeing an error. ;)
