    i read the wikipedia article on the G1/G2 socket but am still unsure....i was looking around the shelves for my stock R1 cpu but all i can find is the 720qm and the ivy bridge from the R2

    EDIT: nvm G1 vs G2 socket won't work....

    First gen i7 will only work in M15x and M17x R2
    Sandy Bridge will only work in M17x R3 & R4, M18x R1 & R2
    Ivy Bridge will only work in M17x R4, M18x R2
