In theory yes...this will work. No idea why you'd do it but yes it will work

Indeed! $5! And I can use it until I can save for something better.

Good question, on the other end of the spectrum what is the highest spec CPU that will fit the M18x R2?

The i7-3940XM and i7-3920XM are the best two you can put into M18x R2, in fact they're the best Ivy Bridge mobile CPU ever made. This model has been sold with i7-3920XM.

    If the Extreme is priced too extremely, look for normal quad core i7, i.e. i7-3610QM, i7-3612QM, i7-3630QM, i7-3632QM, i7-3720QM, i7-3740QM, i7-3820QM, i7-3840QM.

Note: Use these filters - Socket G2, 0.022 micron

Oh yeah, that B815 is a Sandy Bridge CPU which may not work.

Sandy bridge chips work. Some early M18x R2 and M17x R4 were sold with sandy bridge chips. I've personally tested a 2920XM in the M18x R2 with success

Alright, never knew that, thought it was IVB only.

Just had to state that to be on safe side, as Sandy Bridge CPU doesn't work with HP EliteBook 2570p (another laptop with IVB chips), jot23-san in TI has killed his 2570p when he used an i7-2630QM.
