you know this is a downgrade ?
you have a better graphic cards and they removed the SSD ! so you just give them around a 1000$ for free

did you update your bios to A12 ?
did you try to swap the cards fans and see if it works ?
did you try to force the fan to work with HWiNFO64 would it work ?
try this if you dont know how just ask

I would advise, strongly, that you hold your ground and tell them that you will only accept equal or better as per their warranty policy. As such, they need to produce the appropriate replacement parts or altenratively, the appropriate specifications (minimal 980M Nvidia GPUs in SLi with Extreme CPU). Everything needs to be matched in a replacement unit.

As policy, they can't force a replacement on you that is in anyway below your original specification. However, be cautious that if you do accept a lower or different specification replacement, then your warranty will continue to support that specification as opposed to your original -- you will not be able to revert back to the better spec if the unit or parts need replacing again. This is precisely why I would advise that you do not settle for less in any case.

I can't believe they even offered that as a replacement...that is a 100% major downgrade of about 2000$ from what you currently have.

Yeah, that's really, really, really horrible.

Whoever thought that might be OK needs to be fired. You'd be better off running with only one 980M rather than accepting such a massive performance downgrade. In fact, I would do exactly that until you get them to wake up and offer you like or better, or a refund of your original purchase price so you can buy a Sky X9 to replace it.

Whatever you do, if you have not already done so, please don't send them your machine until they have agreed to give you exactly what you had before. If they capture your machine before you have that problem worked out, you'll likely be up the creek without a paddle.

Edit: The second fan not working is a known issue for the Alienware 18 with 980M SLI. You may have to use HWiNFO64 to make the secondary GPU fan work correctly. Even some folks with the proper vBIOS and A12 BIOS still have to do that if my understanding is correct. If that is the only problem, maybe you should just do that and have them close out your tech support ticket for this issue.
