So I have a new 1440p screen with a dual link DVI port and an hdmi port. I have a DP to dual link active adapter I can use for now, but I'd prefer be able to use the HDMI 1.4 port on my m18x r1. Problem is, I can't seem to get it to go above 1920x1200
Same cable and monitor work on my gtx 970 on my desktop. I'd prefer not to have to use the adapter on my laptop as I want the hdmi port on my 970 free for my TV.
    Thanks

What GPU(s) are you running in the M18xR1?

Have you tried using displayport instead of hdmi?

Yah. The monitor only has dual link dvi and hdmi, but I was able to use a DP to dual link DVI adapter.

Have you checked if the monitor itself can do the full resolution over HDMI?

Yes. I think I mentioned this in the OP post, but in case I didn't, I used the same HDMI cable and my gtx 970 and was able to do native resolution on this panel. It's an xstar DP2710LED MULTI

    I am thinking it's a limitation of the 6970m over hdmi. I think it can't do over 1080p 60hz.

I think 6970m might only support HDMI 1.3, which would mean that you wouldn't be able to run them at full resolution. It would make sense for the 970 to be able to push 2560x1440 since that would have the support for HDMI 1.4/2.0 and the cable specification remained identical across the versions.
