Noone else probably has this problem but the area on the lower left portion of the laptop next to the mouse cursor square is raised as if not attatched to whats under...it was originally barely higher than the right side now i can tell when i push on it that its loose because it clicks when i press on it...i have the 5 yr unlimited warranty and could send it in for repair, but it it really worth it at the moment...as long as it isnt visibly noticeable, i think ill live lol...any suggestions?

I've seen in the m18x 'tear down' post in this forum that the treads for the screws to screw into in the m18x are plastic and that it's easy to damage them when taking it apart / putting it back together. It may be that the tech who put it together gave too many turns of the screwdriver and broke the treads. If you remove the back bottom panel (remove battery, remove 4 screws and slide panel towards back) and check whether the screw in that area is loose or damaged in some way you should find what's causing the panel to lift up. I would ask for a replacement or a tech to come out and replace the panel though.

Yeah, the first thing I would do is go through my teardown thread HERE

Then just take it enough apart (take out the screws) to be able to remove the cover.
Then see if you can't reseat it.

It sounds like the person putting it together did not get everything snapped back into place.

Either that or call dell and have them send someone out to fix it (I would just try myself first.... but up to you)

    Good luck

    D.

Dont worry i have the same problem, dont worry about it. When you worry about the cosmetics of a laptop you will never be happy because there will always be something to pick at, just enjoy your benching and games and forget about all of that :)

But it has to be perfect! I'm actually pretty obsessive about these kinds of things, as hard as I would try to ignore something like this, it would drive me crazy.
