The price that they gave you is not bad at all. That's almost the same config I just ordered, difference being that I stayed with the stock ram (6 gigs) and hard drive (500). Reason being that it was cheaper to buy the upgrade parts third party such as newegg. Also I opted for the 3720QM CPU, but all together, including the 4 year advance warranty came to around $3300. Which brings me to my next question, would you also be getting a warranty for it? If so then you have to factor that into the equation. I would recommend that you at least get the 2 year warranty from the beginning and then you have the options to upgrade at your discretion. What is the current configuration of your np8150 by the way? This is just speaking from my experience with my laptop, just received it about 4 days ago and it still amazes me how powerful these machines are. -

so should i do it or not how fast does crysis run. the original. i need to know because i want to play it in 3d its my favorite game.
no warrenty am i getting ripped off -
Well if your looking to play it in 3D then your going to be disappointed to here that the M18X doesn't come with the option of the 3D screen. Only the M17X has that option. Also far as game play, I'm not sure on that. Still in the middle of getting my laptop up and installed with everything I need. Maybe someone else here will have the information for you. -
i use a 3d tv and tridef

What are you going to be using it for? I can tell you right now that unless you're doing some very specific, and very heavy-duty stuff, 24GB of RAM will never be touched. Most people are fine with 8GB. If you're into music production, or heavy video editing, or 3D modelling or something, then 16, but anything beyond that is useless. lilone is also right in that it's far better value to buy things like RAM and hard drives from Newegg and install them yourself. Dell want $325 for 32GB of RAM, Newegg will give it to you for about $140. Hard drives (SSDs in particular) are the same, especially when you get into high capacity drives.

Serephucus is right about the RAM. I work with 3d modeling programs and I've never even came close to 16 gigs, so 24 is just an overkill if your not doing something that demands its. More doesn't necessary mean best. Just because you have 16 gigs of ram vs. 24 gigs doesn't make your computer any faster. That ram that is unused is just going to be sitting there. You would see little to no speed gains between the two. If I were you, I would downgrade the ram to the stock and same with hard drive. If you really want to see some performance gain, order a SSD. Order these upgrades trough a reseller like newegg. They always have deals going on with SSD's and RAM. Then use the money you saved to upgrade that 3610QM to at least the 3720QM. Just my opinion though. -
I voted to change to 680 SLI but to be honest unless you need the mobility you can build a desktop for half the price easy. Another question, what is attractive about PC gaming? Unless you are attracted to the prospect of modding the games, which has a bit of a learning curve, the higher resolution the PC affords is probably not worth the expense. You could just get a console and save a bit of money.

If you are in the UK, you can save some cash on that build if you want to use my Dell Sales Rep. Take a look at my thread here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-aw-system-accessories-please-contribute.html - I agree with the fact that 24gb ram is most likely not needed. If you speak with my rep, he can also configure a machine with the latest Intel cpu's so you would get a 3630qm which is slightly faster. As for gpu's, that's a tough one....if you can afford the 680m Sli, I would personally opt for that over AMD which have been more problematic than Nvidia of late.

Get the 680's!
-
If you're not on a tight budget, get the 680's. But if you even have to second guess your decision or question it, don't get them - you may end up just returning it later on. If you're planning to finance it through the Dell Preferred Program, think long term.

Considering your situation, which is similar to mine back then, I say they gave you a good offer. You just need more patience with the Crossfire GPUs since they tend to need some taming as compared to Nvidia.
just ordered a 18x r2 however I need opinions.
