Glad you did not waste $250 each on 880M when you already have a better product (with higher performance) in 880M. That would have actually been a minor downgrade for you. I have never seen even one example of 880M SLI that could keep up with 780M SLI in benchmarks. NVIDIA's drivers are a terrible mess for both of them.

I have to agree with Mr. Fox here, the performance difference between those two isn't worth the change and the extra money.

I never had the 780's, but after struggling with the 880's for quite a while, I have actually gotten mine to perform pretty good now. I was using the modded drivers for a long time, However recently I was using 353.06, putting global and program settings as well as system setting on max performance and they were pretty darn good. I would still get throttling, but the throttle was only down from max clock to 963, never lower than that.

The only time they ran lower was during a cut scene when they would sometimes drop but during actual gaming, they were stable and performing nicely overall. Of course, this is without me ever actually trying to overclock and I don't know how the performance compares to what the 780's would do. So after all this time, after getting the performance I wanted, what did I do...I bought a new computer with the 980's. Go figure. Will be saying goodbye to the 880's soon.

i'd have taken you up on the offer, but really now looking to move on. once i get my desktop up and running and backup my steam/origin stuff to the new pc. i am thinking of putting my R2 and the spares i have accumulated in the classifieds here.
now i just want something that works, needs less tinkering with and if possible decent build quality

also recently got burned on ebay about a metabox branded P870DMG. been trying to get in touch with forum user marc gibb ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/members/marc-gibb.674401/) but seems to be falling on deaf ears
