Oh man, I have no idea on that one. I've never even seen one before. There was never really any legitimate point in buying an M18x with only one GPU and most people wanted it specifically because it is dual GPU and aluminum chassis. Good luck finding one. If you do, it would be great to know the part number. You could cut a piece of foam to fit there and paint it black if the big open/empty radiator pocket is bothering you. If you have a spare heat sink you could chop off the heat pipes and stick the radiator in there so it would actually look right and provide ventilation. It would be a shame to just block off the vent rather than put it to good use.

But why do you want to buy it? Isn't it protected from short circuits if no GPU is inserted? When my 6990M (CRAP) died I was using iGPU for about a month without any GPU inserted and all was fine.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. I have one 780M in the M18xR1 right now and it's just an empty hole for the secondary GPU. That doesn't hurt anything and probably is more beneficial for breathing to leave it open rather than block it off.

Look what I just stumbled upon - Alienware M18x M18x-R2 Right Side Cooling Fan Filler - A10C09

I don't think what they are a calling the part number is a valid number so if you get it and can find a label on it, please post a photo of it in case anyone else wants to try to find one.

that's the fan filler, I need the GPU filler - its a piece of plastic that has the exact same dimensions as an MXM card and fits into the GPU slot

if i didn't have to take my R2 apart to take a picture of it i definitely would

as it is, i put my gf's R2 together with just empty space on the secondary slot but you can definitely tell the difference on the right side of the keyboard...she doesn't know any better though and doesn't use the computer enough to care, but Dell tech support rep had no idea what i was talking about when i asked for it

here's an excerpt from the chat log:

02/11/2016 01:23:39AM max: "hi how are you, i need the plastic GPU spacer for the secondary GPU slot for an M18XR2, what is the proper name or part # for this?"
02/11/2016 01:24:03AM max: "this is the plastic board the size of a GPU that goes into the secondary slot on models with only 1 graphics card"
02/11/2016 01:24:21AM Agent (TIP_Jhonas G): "Glad you chatted in. I'll do my best to help, Max."
02/11/2016 01:25:42AM Agent (TIP_Jhonas G): " I'm not sure of this Alienware laptop has a slot for a second graphics card.(!!!!!!!!????) can you pelase provide me the service tag for thsi laptop by the way so I can try to check on it here?"

like seriously, i don't mind that dell outsources their tech support to India, but at least train your reps to know your products and not just punch in service tags and part numbers like monkeys

It's not the first time im facing some India monkeys. They used to hire 1st world countries techs and support was really good before. I called one time support in Poland. Outsourcing tech-support to India is low prohibited here so I got good polish IT guy that helped me really fast.

Agreed, and I'm Indian.. Dealing with these techs is fail and the parts guys etc are usually Indian now... At least when I had warranty on my Alienware, the tech support was from Slovakia and was pretty decent!
