I'm not normally one to complain on forums, but I am mind blown after today experience so I felt I should share my experience.
As you all know. After my 3rd replacement M18x, I organised a refund back in early January.
Today I received the following email......
I am emailing you about the Alienware mx 18, tag number #######.
I purchased this computer from dell online as a refurbished laptop, I needed to change the ownership of this laptop for warranty, so that is how I got your email and name. When I spoke to one of dells customer service when i was purchasing this computer i asked them the history of the computer, if it had been used or a replacement or anything like that because i didn't want to spend the amount of money i did to buy it and find out that it had previous issues. The dell customer service agent told me that it hasn't been used. They said it was ordered but the order was cancelled and it never left the factory. So now i am confused to find out that it was owned by a company and used.
I would extremely appreciate it if you could inform me if there were any issues with this computer when you received it. I don't want to sound nosey but if you could tell me why you returned the laptop back to dell because of the amount of money i paid dell for this laptop would not like to have the same issues the laptop may of had in the past.
Thank you for your time.
Kind Regards
I am absolutely disgusted that:
A. Dell gave my contact details to another customer without my consent.
B. Dell lied to another customer about the history of my M18x.
I will be contacting consumer affairs first thing tomorrow morning.
Before you ask, I never listed my service tag anywhere online so I don't see how this could be a scammer trying to confirm my details.

WoW......that's ridiculous. I've owned a bunch of Alienware's that were returned. I hope they didn't give out my information. On my last M17x R2 they tried to charge me for the new owner not returning parts. I had to explain that I didn't own that unit for over 6 months. They even went so far as to make me find the 6 month old shipping receipt from Fedex. Luckily I keep every one of them.

That is terrible OMG what is dell doing....

Clearly, this should not have occurred. We don't know what happened, so we should not assume anything. Sentinel, I am locking this thread because we don't need additional commentary from the forum. I am sending an email to Dell-Bill_B and DELLChris_M to alert them to this problem so they can escalate this to the proper department at Dell to see if there was a security breach on their end. If someone violated their company policy, I am sure they have a protocol for dealing with this type of thing through their human resources department. Sometimes employees do dumb things, but again, we should not make any assumptions about what happened, or assume that one person's action represent a business practice.
Wish I didn't have to post this...
