I've just upgraded to win 8.1 Before I had win 7 pro, I done a clean install all went well with the install though I've noticed if I start my m18x r2 with only battery power it crashes and sometimes reboots. If I start it with the power supply connected I have no problems, any ideas would be appreciated as as usual with these issues it drives you nuts.

I think I have sorted it by putting it in legacy boot in the bios, fingers crossed.

If reverting to 7 does not resolve the issue then consider buying a new battery. One of its cells may be defective and bypassed by the battery pack, resulting in a still-working unit, but at a diminished maximum load. Unfortunately, this cannot be checked with HWiNFO or the like as the battery only reports voltage, whereas a single defective cell would not affect that value.

If you are using 361.43 drivers they are absolutely HORRIBLE. In fact, there is some indication those drivers are even damaging video cards. You need to use DDU in Safe Mode and get rid of them immediately. Not only do they perform poorly, they can also corrupt your Windows installation. I had to reinstall Windows 7 and Windows 10 because of them screwing up my OS installations. At the very least they will be unstable and cause many BSOD.

Don't use anything newer than 359.06 for the time being. If you have Kepler video cards, use my driver mod from the thread linked below for the best results:

Thanks for your reply, my friend is still running win 7 so i took the battery around to him an it seems fine in his machine. So i'm thinking the battery is fine though i left it with him to keep testing it.

Thanks for your reply i am using the latest drivers so I will delete them and use your mod. I know how complex drivers must be though I'm shocked that they are this poor. Thanks again for your help.
