Hello everyone, so I have an Alienware 18 with dual 860m's, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to get modded drivers that allow me to stay up to date since Nvidia is killing off the kepler mobile support, alternatively, I've seen many people using old drivers around the 350-380 versions with these old gpus, is it because performance is better with those drivers? Just looking for a bit of guidance to squeeze all the performance I can from my gpus, thanks!

Kepler performance has not been optimized for several years now, it doesn’t really matter at this point. Drivers going forward for Kepler will only have security updates, you should stick to those.

So not even modded drivers like those from xtremeg would make a difference? :( Ideally i'd love to upgrade to 970ms or something like that but i think i'll be stuck with my current gpus so i'm desperate for more performance gains lol

Kepler has not had any real performance improvements since 2015. The “tweaked” drivers are just to install unsupported graphics cards into other systems, it doesn’t mean anything for factory equipped systems. Best bet is to upgrade to 980M, it is natively supported in Alienware 18 from BIOS A12 onwards. I have a couple for sale if you are interested in going that route

Raidriar is correct! The 800m series cards are garbage imo, if you can upgrade. The 900m series are pretty good as an upgrade and a huge upgrade compared to the 800m series.

I agree, but even so 880ms would be a thousand times a difference from these 860ms haha. always being short on money due to living in a hellhole is the only reason as to why I haven't upgraded, but maybe someday I will, until then I just wanna keep at least close to 60fps in kingdom come deliverance lol

I definitely am interested in at least knowing how much would the upgrade cost, taking into account I have the 75w heatsinks so I'd need new ones as well

Joining the topic. Can anyone give an advice of the best upgrade from 860m which is stable?
    Thank you
