OK so my Alienware screen will turn half black half flashing white with a bit of black stripes on occasional start-ups. What happens exactly is that screen turns like that just before windows loads on startup, this happens every once in a while (in fact it is as rare as one every one or two weeks), but I am still curious as to why this problem occurs and weather anything could be done about it.

I have noticed it occurs when more often when I change drivers (like upgrade graphics drivers) or when I enable/disable SLI. Here is a picture of the screen under error.

N.B: while this problem occurs just before windows loads it once occured in the past and wouldnt leave even when the computer fully booted, I have to shut it down manually and then it fixed.

That is odd, do you ever get bsod's and crashes playing intensive games?

Sound possibly like a gpu starting to flake out or system board.??.. You have an external monitor you can plug in when it happens to see if but carries over to the external monitor as well? If it's under warranty is send that picture to a support rep and get them to fix it. If it's not then try removing one of the gpus's and fully test then remove it and I stall the sexism gpu by itself and see isnit does it. You can then either find a flaky gpu or move onto the next possibility of the system board..

That is good, at least it doesn't seem like a hardware issue, just to confirm you are able to successfully enable and disable SLI?
When you upgrade drivers do you do a clean install with display driver uninstaller or driver sweeper in safe mode?

I miss read thought he said it happens even before windows boots. If it's only in windows and diagnostics passes then it could be a driver. My aw14 screen flakes out on some drivers and does a weird half the screen garbled and other half blank.
