    Hi guys!

My brother has an Alienware m18x (which I'm pretty bloody envious of), and he's bought an OCZ Agility 3 240GB and wants to make this his System disk since his single 500GB Hybrid disk is close to full and the bottleneck in many cases of the pc. Do you guys have any migration software to recommend and know of any procedures which must be done for that to be done successfully? Are BIOS-changes required, and is one HD-slot designated to the system disk and one for a secondary drive?

Please enlighten us, because I bought an Intel disk for my ASUS G73SW and used the Migration Software that followed without any problems and could straight away use my SSD as the system drive, but this is obviously not the case with the OCZ Agility 3 and the m18x. None of us are very knowledgeable in this matters.

We'd be very grateful for any help.

    Cheers peeps!

    B & A

I would just do a fresh install on the new ssd, put that in the place of the current disk and then move the current disk into the second slot. You can then install all your programs on the ssd to allow them to load faster and use the 500GB disk to store files.

    Thanks mate.

That is surely an option, but he wanted to avoid that if possible because of the pc also being connected to work with licences to lots of software and stuff. He uses it both in private and for work.

What is he trying to avoid? If the 500gb drive is nearly full, you can't migrate it to a 240gb drive. If he really wanted, you can leave them both bootable, just do a fresh install on the SSD for home use and leave the current drive intact for work.

Hmmmm, that might be a plan. He has obviously everything on one disc at the moment, but plans in the future to have the system files and program files and other important things on his SSD, but still keep lesser important stuff on the hybrid. 740 GB is not a lot of space to contain all kinds of crap, so I guess that it's enough to keep the system on just one disc.

But have you never heard of a Migration-software for an OCZ SSD like the one Intel has? That would be the most wanted option if it exists. He could move all the crap files to an external disc and migrate the rest which I'm sure would be easily fitted on a 240 GB SSD with some place to spare as well.
