I sent in my m18x r2 because one of my gtx 980m's stopped showing up. I figured they installed them originally so who better to troubleshoot the problem. They received it on September 24th and everytime I call or message no response for days, then first message was they can't duplicate problem, so I asked if both video cards were working?, and after about a week they replied or sorry was talking about someone else's system. Now after another week of calls and messaging, I get a response saying previous tech left and he would be taking over and let's me know they've only had my system since the 13th of October, what, so I sent him confirmation that it arrived and was signed for on the 24th of September. Days go by and he responds oh yes it arrived but it took a long time to check it in , what the other tech was supposedly already working on it for weeks. I asked twice now for somebody to call me and let me know what's going on still no response. I don't want to lose my pristine m18x r2 that has served me well for years and built like a tank, but I'm really starting to worry about my first ever Alienware laptop.

I don't see any open RMAs.

Please send me a PM mentioning your real name and email address account that you use for HIDevolution

If they’ve been around for years, they can’t be a bad business or else they would have packed up shop a while ago

I absolutely despise this type of communication, it is what is leading to much of the crumbling communications across the globe.

You are literally quoting him, and reading in a message that doesnt exist, claiming it to be his message to us.

    Its intellectually lazy and/or dishonest.

There are an almost infinite amount of points you can argue against HIDevolution, I suggest you start there instead of re-framing what others are actually saying.

I’m saying bad businesses don’t stay in business for long. They’ve been around since 2007.

I just wanted to update everyone on the status of my computer. I didn't get it back until last month about four months after I sent it in. When I received it, it was perfectly packaged, but what was inside was damaged and clearly dropped, when I call HIDevolution they told me after four months they received it that way and never said anything because they receive computers like that all the time. I said wouldn't a company tell the owner or at least ask if it was damaged so a claim could be filed, also was told they take pictures of incoming computers, but somehow they didn't take pictures of mine. I sent it in just to get bios updated and possibly fix my secondary video card, it took four months and no video card couldn't source it, ok but four months to update bios. I keep all of my electronics in as new condition and this was my first Alienware and now it's destroyed. I talked to employees as well as owner of HIDevolution and they all say it's a he said she said situation, no its not, not after four months of almost nonexistent contact . They offered to try and fix it but I have no confidence they would ever fix it or care to get it back to the condition they received it in. I just wanted to say this because maybe I can save someone the heartbreak and headache of dealing with this company. I know they will deny everything and just say I trying to get something, but sorry I'm not letting them take that out, I have other Alienware laptops, I'm just heartbroken my first ones days are over.

Out of curiously what issue did you have with 980M/M18x R2? I am one of the pioneers of this configuration and I would be able to diagnose what’s really gone wrong, spent a lot of time to get things working well

980Ms have a habit of running hot and blowing my up MOSFETS. It really should have been a simple swap as clevo and Dell 980M work perfect in M18x R2 and you can mix/match no problem.

If that's all true then that is some terrible customer service. Even just the fact that it took them 4 months with no result isn't good enough.
If they say it's standard practice to take pictures of incoming laptops and they somehow forgot to do yours then that is a little too coincidental.

I've never trusted anyone but myself to work on my laptops, even Dell 'techs' don't know what they're doing most of the time.

True indeed for four months barely ever received replies and just at the end they kept asking me how to flash the bios,, but as per owner they worked with me extensively. I don't think they ever tried to fix video card,, I wish I would have, just wasn't comfortable taking apart the display just to get to video card.

Wish whoever you dealt with would give at least their side of the story. This really should have been a straightforward fix

Worst case scenario you can send me your machine and I can try to get it back up and running again.

You can easily just buy a bottom chassis replacement and fix it yourself. You made it sound like the machine was a total loss. Not sure how it took such a massive beating over there by the speaker, as this metal is relatively thick down there. Either it was dropped or crushed against something during shipping. At least it still works, but definitely sad to see

It's hard to tell from pics but other places are tweaked as well, I guess they dropped it with panel removed because it looks fine
