    Hi Guys,

I am at my wits end and i give up trying to solve this one alone.

I have some keys on my keyboard not working, i have tested multiple working keyboards, i have even replaced the motherboard, all connectors were removed for testing purposes the only thing attached to the mobo was LCD/CPU/RAM/Keyboard, every other connection was removed.

All 3 keyboards are registering the same keys not working - example - A and D
Any ideas what can be causing this, i am starting to give up hope !

Did you try with an external one? I'm guessing that works fine.

If you have and it does, I have to tell you that this is very odd. Did you test with different keyboard cables on all those keyboards?

    External works fine :)
I have tried 3 motherboards now, all permit the same behavior, and 3 keyboards all of which function when they are plugged into my m18x r2...

I am completely out of ideas?

I have even tested the processor and ram... :(

Have you tried a fresh Windows installation? Maybe it is an OS or keyboard driver corruption problem. Looks like you have tried everything from a hardware perspective.

Hi Mr Fox, yep :( i am simply using the bios and password field to validate the keyboard input. The only logical thing i can think is, i have managed to short out 3 motherboards on the chassis somewhere. I have never done this in the past on any of my Alienwares though ? :(

If i recall a few of the keys are doing alternate keys so like "s" does a "-"

I know the seating of the ribbon would be the first call, but this is perfect every time i test it :(
