I was told they replaced the motherboard again.

So I installed windows, ect. Can someone please post their screen shots of their throttle stop, and bios? Even their Intel xtreme utility if you are using it.

I have all of mr foxes links bookmarked but I'm not looking to run it at 4.5 ghz. Before having to send it back to dell I was able to run my 4930mx with the stock level 3 overclock in the bios only I changed the multipliers to 44,42,41,41. I also had throttle stop running with no problems , and Hwinfo running for fan control.

Since getting it back I set up the bios the same way, Hwinfo up and running, but now the minute I run throttle stop I get a blue screen when using the settings from mr. Foxes screen shots..

Can someone please post the throttle stop settings I should use for 44,42,41,41? Also what do you recommend I change the bios settings to as I have been told the stock level 3 overclock settings are too high.

I wish I would have taken screen shots of my settings before sending my laptop into dell.

If they replaced the CPU it could potentially be a worse CPU sample. You will need to either lower the mutipliers or look into your voltage settings, it could be it's simply too high and the VRMs are giving out too.

it didn't list CPU on the parts list they have in the package. They had to replace the motherboard because the AlienFx was stuck half on half off.

I believe you told me before I should lower the voltage, but there are only like 3 settings you can change. When I go from overclock 1, 2, to 3, only one number changes, i believe for 1 its 75, 2 80, level 3 goes to 85. Im at work so can't look right now, but i think you know what im talking about.

Basically what i used to do was enable overclock in the bios, use their crappy level 3 overclock, but i would lower the mulipliers that they set. I do not get a blue screen when running games or anything, i only get it when i launch throttle stop. So i think its settings i have in throttle stop itself. Are you using throttle stop? can you post your current throttle stop screen shots , and what overclock settings you have set in your bios. in the bios i think it would be just whatever your multipliers are set at, and i believe the long and short duration window or something? Like i said im at work so im trying to go off memory.

is there a way to change the voltages without using intel extreme utility?

I wehn through all mr foxes bookmarks page and went over the tons and tons of throttlestop information and couldn't find anyone listing what settings they have .

It sounds like for some reason throttlestop is the issue then? Are you able to use a bench like linpack without an issue while monitoring clock speeds and see if they keep their multis?

Read through the guide to Mr Fox again. All overclocking profiles in bios are garbage .. All of power setting in the bios is also rubbish. Oc profiles only increases the actual voltage too high and throttles power (up to 1.279mv) .. Everything from 1.170 and up to 1.250mv is fine for an ok overclock the processor. Start with 1.200mv and experiment for yourself in xtu. All power settings work, just be careful with too high voltage as the processor becomes very hot .. http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...actually-have-run-full-stock-turbo-speed.html

I'll be honest even though I've been building my own pc's for years I only started overclocking recently and the first cpu I chose to try overclocking was a i7 990x and let me tell you I'm almost positive a monkey could overclock that processor. Lol I easily had it running at 4.6ghz and had no idea how I did it. So when I open up Intel extreme utility I see all these voltages and settings and am totally lost. that's why I was asking basically what settings you guys were using.

I basically would throw all your settings and then slowly work up or down from there. I know all parts aren't created equally but it does help when dealing with laptops that most of us have similar parts all the way through . I'll read that thread again and give it a shot.

If I go to use Intel overclocking utility, what should I set the bios to? Do I just reset the bios to default settings ?

You can eg put these values in the bios:

    Cpu turbo mode= enabled
    Overclocking feature = enabled
    Non-turbo flex support = disabled
    Flex ratio override=32
    Extreme edition = bios
Extreme Edition core ratio limits = disabled
1 optional. Choose how high clock frequency you want
2 optional. Choose how high clock frequency you want
3 optional. Choose how high clock frequency you want
4 optional. Choose how high clock frequency you want
    Core voltage mode = adaptive
    Override Turbo settings = enabled
Long duration pwr limit = 180 or higher
Long duration hour window = 128
Short duration pwr limit = enabled
Short duration pwr limit options = 180 or higher

    Bus clock
    New frequency=10034

ok i ran fire strike with your settings, except i used mr foxes long duration and short duration power limits as 32767. Should I use a different setting for that? I know you said over 180 for those settings.

    I scored a 9935. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4930MX,Alienware 01W2J2

it says on 3dmark that is a great score, but is that a good score for a alienware 18 4930mx cpu with 780m sli?

Thank you guys for taking the time to help me out. I appreciate it.
