Guys I'm with the guy that threw in the towel, at 3.4k that I spent on my machine, no way, I can't handle all the issues that are present on the AW18, seems to me I would have been 10x better off buying this magically R2 that everyone seems to be gawking the AW 18 users about.
Newer products that take a step back... well looks like a leap back that cost this much... un acceptable.
here are the reasons for my decision:
1, Screen Bleeding on corners looks like 4 white quesadillas on the screen corners
2, Sound problem I have to close the lid and open it every time to get the sound working
3, Poor performance, my machine is barely even able to run at the stock speeds of 3.8, overclocking is just wishful thinking, people with the m18xr2 are getting 35% better scores.
4, Compared to my M18xR1, this is just a bad joke, I'll wait a year or two when the prices for the 780m cards comes down and just upgrade the cpu/gfx cards, it will probably run faster than this AW 18 and cost 1/3
So there Alienware, you idiots really screwed the pooch on this one, only took me 5 days to reach my decision.

Yeah man, I really wish they made a product that owned the r2. I want to buy a new machine. This isn't ir. And if they keep this same design next model may not be either

It sucks that you're unhappy with your machine man.
Just so you know...
It is well documented by Mr. Fox and others that overclocking the CPU is not the 18's strong point. Furthermore, overclocking the CPU doesn't do much for gaming anyway. More just bragging rights, and certainly not a reason to get rid of a beautiful machine.
I've also seen a lot of folks griping about the 18's screen, so that was no secret.
Your sound issues are more than likely a driver problem, or two programs not playing nicely together.
Lastly, be thankful that they'll probably take your machine back and offer a full refund, no questions asked. Not a lot of companies will do that.Mr. Fox likes this. -
You're making the right decision returning this turd. Don't support Dell's dumbing down of the AW brand.

There will always be problems with every new alienware.

I hope their sales tanked and a we get a real successor to the r2 soon

Hopefully they get their act together sooner rather than later otherwise I'll have to go elsewhere. Which I don't want.
Returning AW18, had enough...
