Hey, I have an m18X that came bundled with PowerDVD 9.6, and it can't play more recent blurays (specifically, Ant-Man) and it seems like it's an aacs key issue, and PDVD 9 isn't being updated anymore, AND OEM bundled software isn't elligible for the free update to PDVD 12, and I don't want to deal with this again in a few years anyway.

Does anybody have a solution or alternative to this nonsense?

Every year Cyberlink ships a new number release, 15 is ending, and 16 is about to ship.

You can get a great price on 15 now at Xmas :)

They also have a subscription model, 1 quarter gets you usage for 3 months, or yearly fee, but after the time expires you are left with a non-working install.

Here is a free Blu-ray app that I used about a year ago between deciding on subscription and purchase of 15 Ultra - I purchased :)

be ware to purchase anything from Cyberripofflink, 3 reintallations of your software for any reason, be it a format, a system crash, or moving to another OS and your license is blacklisted, good luck having their poor customer service reset your code.

See my take on bad companies here:

Avoid purchasing software from these companies!

    That's a lot of work just to watch a Redbox / Netflix DVD/Blu-ray :)

It ain't so bad when you have a lifetime license and it is not intrusive.
