Ok so with my M18X, given it has stuck/burnt pixels, I tried to use a screen that I believed to be LVDS from my old latitude, but as soon as I powered on the laptop smoke erupted right around the LVDS port on the laptop, and with the native panel, it no longer shows backlight (panel does still work, just no backlight and stuck pixels as before)

Is it possible that I damaged something on the board?

Of course it is....not all LVDS panels have the same pin configuration. Did you check pinout between the two panels? It’s very possible you sent power some place it wasn’t supposed to go

I can say, almost without a doubt, you have fried something on your motherboard.

Well now, the brightness is halfway fixed and screen is flickering, as well as pixels are literally dead, not stuck

See if you can get the mother board looked at, damage might not be that bad?

I'd have no clue where to start to look, or even where I would take it. But I'll find a way.

If you know both panel nrs. and can find the schematics of this model then it's fairly easy to point out which smd chips are likely to have been damaged or killed.
