im a gosh darn upgrade junky.. they need a special meeting place for people like me.. like AA or NA.. lol//jk

No really I am.. and I propose we get a sticky thread just for upgrades pertaining to the actual hardware of are machine..

Examples would be.. video cards.. wireless cards i.e. 3x3 wireless ac cards..( they need to hurry up with these) and so forth..

I feel that way we could look in one thread and find all updates about are machines and hardware that will work.

It would be set up like Johnksss thread for benching but be listed for hardware..

Well just a thought.. but I get so Dang restless in these periods of inactivity lol and this way if some one finds some thing experimental that i havent found all ready then id know about it..

feel free to rename this thread Brother fox and sticky it if this idea gets taken up..

I would love to have access to a list with the new available upgrades for my M18x R2!

Haha nice thread for the junkies. My machine started life as a m18x r2 with 3610qm, 7970m CF and a 500gp HDD etc...
When I bough the thing I said to myself I wouldn't use a faster CPU lol.

It sucks now.. I think it's fully maxed unless I do stupid things like go to more ram.

The lies we tell ourselves. ;)

If I remember correctly, Intel is coming out with some overclockable storage options for the crazy enthusiasts like us.

There something about fast machines I love.

@Dumbdumb - time to rip out that ODD for a caddy and HDD if you haven't already :D

lol na.. its time to find that mythical bluray burner for the slot.. or some thing that srves a bigger purpouse than just another hdd.. im sure they make something we havent heard of before..
I wonder if you could get a custom gpu made for that slot with cooling to dedicate to to some thing.. instead of using one of your other gpus.. lol

Getting a custom GPU made would be quite expensive and by quite I hope you are a very rich person.

I'd be an upgrade junkie as well, if I had the money to spare. I'd love to stick a pair of 780M's in my machine, but they are so expensive that even if I could afford it, I just couldn't justify it.

On the other hand, I'm sure I'll splash out on an XM CPU at some point. The $130 2920XM on eBay right now is very, very tempting...but I'm waiting for a similarly priced 3920XM. (Not that I'd even need it, my meager 3720QM is more than fast enough for anything I want to throw at it.)

Since we're talking about junkies. I live in denial. I have 2 M18x's and about to have a 3rd shortly, But I am not a junkie, more of a connoisseur of sorts. I like the finer things in life :D I say don't be ashamed! Be PROUD! Buy that XM Cpu! Buy that GTX 680/780/880m! Buy that 32gb of Ram and Max the mhz! NEVER ADMIT YOUR SPENDING TO MUCH MONEY!!! lol eh Maybe I am a junkie.
