Hi all. Recently received my new 18 with 880m's. It seems to perform pretty well. Getting consistent FPS with everything maxed other than maybe AA. Temps seem to stay below 70c as much as I can tell. However these fans sure do run. I mean they sometimes kick in as if the bios is being flashed. Is that normal?

Also, I use fraps occasionally for frame rate monitoring but was wondering what tool I can use during gaming to monitor the temps and speeds of my CPU and GPU's what is the best program to use for those basic things and how do I use it while gaming? Last question I have is are there any settings I should change in Nvidia control panel to enhance my gaming performance even more or should I leave them and only make changes within the game settings. Thanks all.

If you want to monitor CPU/GPU temps/speeds this guide is as good as it gets.

There isn't a whole lot you can do in Nvidia Control Panel in terms of gaining more performance unless you are reducing fidelity settings.
More performance can easily be extracted by a simple OC using EVGA Precision X - which is a program you'll need to use in that guide linked above.
If you're really keen on even more performance, you might want to invest some time at Tech Inferno Forums and looking into flashing your 880m Vbios with SVL7's unlocked one.

ok thx. I'm not looking to OC just wanted to see if I should change anything in the control panel. I have seen some people recommend changing some setting in there but don't know where I saw it. Was a while ago. And then others like yourself say not to so I was just curious. Thanks much.

Settings will be changed in-game depending on each game you play. Don't worry about the nVidia Control Panel too much.
