Even though a single 580M is serious overkill for MW3@max settings, I can't help but feel cheated that one of my GPU's has to do all the work instead of 2 spliting the work. Am I wrong to feel this way?

Well if its overkill already then its better to give your 2nd card a good vacation until they fix profiles for the game. :D

Sorry to take this slightly off-topic.

But is WM3 anywhere near the greatness of BF3? I am guessing no chance, not even by a long shot?

    lol "the greatness of BF3"...

I can't find the 'greatness' of bf3 myself. Pretty yes, although not as pretty as expected .... but greatness ... can't find it. Personally. My brother bought it thinking we were buying it (after playing the beta) ... i failed to inform him we were not buying it :p

I'm going to put it out there that I love MW3, having been a 400+ hour vet of MW2 and not the greatest fan of black ops (although I played a few weeks worth), I think it has that MW2 feel that I love and I don't care what people say....... I'm gonna spend a lot of time on MW3.

To make the game look waaaaaay better switch to Native under video options.
During intense fire fights at Native I see drops from 63 to 58fps at stock clocks with vsync enabled. Now I think enabling SLI is justified. With native enabled the game looks like it is optimized for PC.

Without native the image is softer. I know it's hard to tell from screenshots but it is a huge difference.

I think with native enabled the graphics look sweet. It's certainly no BF3 as far as graphics go. I really enjoy Modern Warfare's Campaign from CoD4 to MW3. The multiplayer is easier to get into in MW3. Overall I think more time and effort went into BF3. I would say that BF3 is more demo material for showing off what a properly equipped Alienware can really do.

So this game is worth picking up? I am a MW fanboy and loved all MW games, just not Treypoop games...

Also what does this native do other than making it softer?

I personally think the crisper image looks better than the softer one, havent got the title yet but probably will get it soon - maybe once the AMD issues have been resolved.

    + 1 rep. (when it lets me....tsk...)

    From what I've gathered, Campaign wise MW3 > BF3, and for multiplayer BF3 > MW3.

    I own both but I like BF3 > MW3 in all aspects.

Yes, its worth it. Native makes the game look more detailed and sharper.

Native makes the game look amazing on PC. Since they are just starting the capture process its gonna take some time for them to provide a fix. By then maybe it'll be on sale.

    Really?
I think it's a good game. I think it should have been 49.99 instead of 59.99USD. Who handles adding SLI to MW3, Nvidia or Activision? So far the campaign is sick!!! I'm about to use Steam Mover to move it off of my SSD to my D drive to get me back to 70GB+.

It's up to Nvidia to release new drivers for SLI support. For sure it should be on there short list :) Also isn't there a program to make profiles for games nHancer I think.

Thanks for the info. I hope they do it soon. With native enabled and max settings I see a drop from 63 to 58 FPS with single 580M. I do see that you can add SLI profiles....hmmmm.

C'mon skygunner, we both know that's not true. C2 and W2 look awesome. BF3 looks very good. Rage looks somewhere between very good (it has its moments) and alright (and sometimes it disappoints). MW3 just looks average at best.

MW3 is a game with at best yesterday's graphics and so much arcade-like single player it quite often turns too silly to be fun. Within the first two hours of gameplay I think I shot like 500 Russians. They keep on coming at me like lemmings. The enemy AI is pretty much nonexistent. There is just so many of them. The game is at best mediocre. If it was called neither "Call of Duty" nor "Modern Warfare" at least half of the people saying it's so cool wouldn't even notice it was released. 2/3 of MW3's success is the name and marketing.

That said, I played worse, so one may find it fun enough, although both MW2 and Medal of Honor 2010, talking modern warfare shooters, were much more amusing (MoH wasn't bad at all!).

It does look good with native enabled. I don't know what else to say. Does it look as good as BF3? No. Is it fun? I think so. I really shouldn't be buying any games....I have over 8 games installed on my PC that I haven't even beat yet.

MW3 really sucks! my God, am I getting old??? It was a complete let down :(

BF3 is amazing compared to MW3, and I keep reading the story sucks on BF3 and MW3 is so much better... what are they smoking? they are both the same story... (a terrorits that wants to kills all of us Americans bla bla bla) if you want a good story get Uncharted 1,2,3 for the PS3....

As far as Multiplayer ... MW3 is for spastic ADD kids (sorry if you like it) it is so damn fast paced it reminds me of Pac-Man after you eat the power-up.

That's exactly what I thought. I was trying to recall what was up in MW2 and actually I wasn't sure if some things happened in MW2 or BF3. The overall storyline is exactly the same: There are bad terrorists. They are ugly and evil and need to be killed. They want to destroy the US. B*stards. You, the player, are a part of many different teams working on stopping them. And it's always about Russia or some villains with Russian names. After a while one just doesn't remember who's who or what location was featured in which game...

All I know is that I've played 3.7 hours of the campaign and it has been one hella fun roller coaster of a ride. All I need now for this game is SLI support.

Got my new Tegra 3 tablet today with a few demos(under NDA so can't go into details). Nvidia Tegra 3 Tablets are really getting serious!!!

In the end I think people only buy these FPS for online play and BF3 looks/feels better to me and its free online, while MW3 tries to push the elite package on you lol!

Whats worse is imagine if you where one of the unfortunate 360 gamers and had to pay for the live service, then pay for your ISP, then pay for the game only to pay for the elite service to play a mediocre shooter!

This may be a stupid question but where do you check if native is enabled? Is it just setting it to 1920x1080 resolution? Thanks.

Also, played some multiplayer yesterday, I liked it, very similar to MW2 but it sounds a lot better. Will take a little getting used to with the new classes and killstreaks etc..

If I remember right, it should be -> settings -> video -> advanced video -> Image Quality.

Also, no one mentioned but I checked with GPU-Z and my crossfire utilization seems quite good, around %90 on both cards but I cannot say if it gives extra FPS or not since one 6990m is already an overkill.

I use 12.1 and cap 2, MW3 works just fine.

What do you mean "lag?" The game responding slowly to, say, firing your weapon, moving around, characters warping? That's a network problem. Choppiness generally refers to low FPS. If you're getting lag AND low FPS, then you probably have a problem somewhere else (like your CPU is being fully utilized by some process or something). Are you sure you're not using the integrated intel GFX?

yeah i am sure i have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers so many times and never run on internal gfx i cant fire a full clip of any gun without it stopping for half a second then going then in the last 3-5 bullets it says reload thinking its empty and my fps jumps from 30-70 constantly i might give the 12.1 n caps ago to see if i can fix it if not i think ill just do fresh fresh copy from my factory restore

    cheers for that

Sorry if I am stating the obvious, but when tou are uninstalling the driver do do you follow up with driversweeper and clean your registry as well, that is what most of us here seem to do with good results. Good luck.

Did you double-check to make sure your Windows power profile did not get switched to something other than "High performance" mode by accident? If it is still on "High performance" open the advanced properties and confirm anything and everything related to CPU, GPU, or power management is set to "high performance" or "100%" or "Never" to confirm your M18x is not trying to conserve power by slowing things down.

Actually had this happen to me playing MW2 , had been playing troublefree for weeks, and all of a sudden it started lagging and almost freezing, becoming unplayable. Changing drivers didn't make a difference, neither did changing resolutions. eventually fixed itself. Let us know how it goes for future reference. Will be buying this game sooner or later.
