    M18xR2 Left GPU Heatsink

    Hi There,

    This is probably going to sound like a dumb question and I have tried finding the answer online before posting to here, but know this forum is full of experienced Alienware users.

    I have an M18x r2 and I am replacing the AMD 7970m for a 970m but I need to get the nvidia heatsink which in the UK where I live is proving somewhat of a pain in the bum!

    Would I be able to use an m18x left nvidia heatsink in my Alienware m18x r2 it is just there seems to be no problem sourcing these in the UK, and I was hoping for a hail mary.

    You can use a 100 watt nividia hs from a m18x r2 for the 970m.

    Many thanks for your reply but that is not quite what i was asking. I was asking can you use an original nvidia m18x heatsink from the first generation of M18 in the m18x r2. If that makes sense?

    We wouldn't recommend that since the internals change from the AW M18X models to the AW18 even if there might be other people to manage to do it.

    Yes you can but for 980M I recommend checking the differences as M18xR2 heatsink is a bit bigger, you can make additional DIY heatsink to cover this area. I am using M18xR1 AMD 100W modded heatsinks with 880M. As for 970M it has lower tdp and smaller heatsink shouldn't be a problem if you don't overclock hard
