After owning both i got to say Dell really cheaped out on this new A18 compared to the r1. The A18 does run smoother, but sure is nowhere near as classy as the original model. I bought the A18 second hand but it was very lightly used by a hiway trucker that used it weekends, once in a while. He paid a small fortune for it new and i felt sorry for him for how much money he lost. Oh the screen is better on the A18 though.

Debatable. The A18 screen is brighter and has more contrast, but it covers less of the color space than the M18x R1/R2 and has crappier black levels, which is expected of IPS/PLS panels.

A18 has secured bios that can't be unlocked - That's very big dissapointment.
