    Hey all,

I've currently got an M18x R2 with the following specs:

    Core i7-3740QM Processor
    16Gb of Ram
    2x AMD 7970M in Xfire
    100GB Intel 510 SSD
    1TB 5400rpm Drive
    32GB MSATA Drive
    BluRay Player
    All other usual stuff.

I've just seen they've opted to kill the 18 line and was wondering should I stick with this unit I've got, or possibly move up to this bad boy:

    Alienware M18
    Intel Core i7-4930MX Processor
    32GBDual Channel DDR3L 1600MHz (4x8GB)
    256GBmSATA SSD Boot + 1TB 5400RPM SATA
    Dual AMD Radeon(TM) R9 M290X graphics with 8GB total (2x 4GB) GDDR5 - AMD CrossFire(TM) Enabled

After salary sacraficing I'll be about $1800 in the red, so as long as I could get anywhere between 1200-1400 for my current one I'd be laughing..

    So thoughts?

Just keep your current system and manually upgrade it IMO. Get an SLI 780GTX setup much faster than the Radeon and doesn't have any issues like throttling like with the latest 980M GTX

You're current setup is fine, really. You could throw in a 3920XM, but you'd probably benefit more from a faster SSD and GTX 780Ms

I agree with all the above. The m290x are just rebranded 7970m's with bumped clocks. Plus if you wack a 3920xm or a 3940xm inside your r2 it would be more potent anyway.

Eeee I don't understand your post. If he has M18xR2 then what's the point buying AW18? It's not worth it.

Don't tell me that im trolling without understanding my post please

Honestly it depends on the kind of user you are, the 18 is not quite the same machine type as the M18X R2.

The only upgrade there will be the CPU. And a little more RAM.
M290X is just a 7970M rebranded with 50MHz higher clocks.

All in all you wont get much performance increase over your R2

Gte a 3940XM and 2 x 980M for SLI . Then Dual PSU mod. Get 2 x 850 PRO SSD's as well for your raid, you have 2 places that are sata3 6G
