    Happy thanksgiving everyone,

I decided to pull the trigger and install 1070 on my 7 years old m18x r2. The problem is the following:

    I bought 1070 from here
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Nvidia...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

Since I restarted the laptop won't turn on at all with 1070 installed. As soon as I plug the power adapter I hear a clicking even before I push the on button. If I push it nothing happens. That clicking noise keeps repeating every 2 seconds. If I take off the 1070 the PC boots normally. Even with my 680m boots normally. As soon as I put the 1070 it won't boot and clicking noise shows up again. Please help :(
My system is 3720, 680m sli and running Windows 7.

    Thanks,

Sounds like you did everything right. I'm thinking either the 1070 is not seating all the way in the socket, the socket has a bit of fluff in there or the card has a bad component. I'd remove it and blow the socket out with some canned air. Make sure the card edge is clean. Also, what TIM did you use? If it is conductive like Arctic Silver or liquid metal, did it go somewhere it shouldn't.

Someone else might recognize the clicking...

I am using Arctic MX-4 and FujiPoly Ultra Extreme XR-M 17w/Mk. Will try to blow up on the mxm port.

Still same noise. Blowed on the mxm and cleaned the 1070 heads with rubbing alcohol. I even plugged it in the secondary mxm port and cleared cmos and all. It won't even turn on even with fn+power trick :(

    Why not try UEFI mode?

Tried it too. The laptop won't even turn in if the 1070 is installed.

Maybe there's something wrong with the 1070?

Have any extra system to test?

This really looks like the card is not right.
Had similar issues with a used 780m sm while ago and finally chose the card to being dead.
