for the vertex 3 owners, make sure your on 2.11 because there where some slowdowns to the firmwares after 2.02

2.11 slowed down my agility 3's to 870mb max read.(raid 0) they use to run 1054mb

Thanks and right back at ya, I had 4 agility 2 drives and they did not even touch one vertex 3 max iops drive. So your raid sounds above average!

I went from 2.02 to 2.11 and my speed remained constant.

I do know that pre 2.09 the drives slowed down but if you look up the changes on the ocz site they fixed it.

if you have hdtune laying around...would like to see what you top off at.
as you see...i ran mine while i was on here typing since it wasn't going to get any better after the fir 30 gb tested. :D

yep, been over there looking around.

also, i do like this drive allot better than my m4. gotta love microcenter and price matching!

What I am curious is what speed this raid will stabilize at. I am assuming that it will keep on dropping without TRIM but the on board Garbage Collection should help balance it out.

The format once or twice a year does not bother me I just hope that my benches stay at the 1gig/sec mark :p

Today I copied a 250 gig file and the copy popup screen did not even show up! I am addicted to this speed!

You won't have any issues if you grab the latest version of RST. The version that AW comes with is no good.

This is mine, I can probably shave off 1-2 seconds when I remove everything from the startup, but I can't compete with the Vertex 3 MaxIops Raid 0

I called Newegg and even know these SATA3 SSD drives are non refundable, they are willing to take them back.... that said, I'm probably going to keep the 510 Raid, I'm very happy with it and although the writes are a good 40% slower than Sandforce, the reads are right up there and we're doing reading mostly.... Also it will be nice to see the performance moving forward to see which drives do a better job with GC.... anyways I have two weeks to react to the RMA.... We'll see, I'd hate to swap them and be one of the ones that have a nightmare experience with Sandforce... Greed always comes back to hunt :D

Yeah your drives rock too so if you cannot return them don't worry about it. They perform great and like you said the reads are whats important.

With no tweaks at all (no RAID 0 etc...), what could I expect my boot time to be with the Crucial M4 128gb (with or without the new 009 firmware)? I just bought one for $149.99. :D

Wow, I was thinking it would be more around 20 seconds. I heard talk of some SSD boot times being around the 20-30 second range, but I'm very inexperienced in this area so I may have just heard wrong.

Have you seen the reported times in this thread? Very eye opening. My M4 is also very fast, if you blink it seems you miss the bootup. This is why I want to test mine but its not working for me. :(

The boot times in this thread are very impressive, but I noticed that most of them were either running in Raid 0 or the Vertex. Very glad to hear that the M4 has the same potential.

OK, so for me I just got it to work by right clicking the file and run as administrator. Did anyone else have to do that?

My time was a measly 12.77 seconds. lol. I'm running stock dell clone on my M4 and its aligned. I need to do a fresh install lol.

Interesting note to point out.................. ever since I ran the file as an administrator. It does a re test EVERY TIME I boot up now and I don't even ask it to run the test. Its not even in my startup file. I have to delete the file to make it stop running. Any ideas?

On a side note..... yay, 6th fastest. Really? :)

    EDIT:

I feel I need to backup what I claim now.

lol, thanks. So did you ever have to run as an administrator to use boot timer? I even checked msconfig and its not in there either. I'm really scratching my head as to why this boot timer program now runs every time I reboot when I don't even ask it to? :(

Ya, I tried that too, it just happily runs. I rebooted at least 20 times and it runs the program everytime I reboot lol. If I recycle bin the file it stops running. After a good nights sleep I got the idea this morning to change the location of the file and see if that stops it from executing everytime I reboot. I'll post what happens.

    Dang, 7th now lol.
