Good evening all, I tried to read through the two threads in regards to utilizing one of these beast cards in the M18X R2. But they are hard to follow. What exactly do you have to do use a 1060/1070 in the M18x r2?

    Unlocked Bios?
    Which one?

    What mode?

    What tricks are needed?

Please explain, we need to know!

only tested msi 1060 as 1070 msi will not physically fit.

need Maxwell unlock bios for the machine,

set IGFX mode, save changes, install the card, boot to BIOS, set SG mode - and that's it, only need mod drivers now and you are done.

Don't you also have to modify the heatsink?

I've reached out to them months ago and never got a response, probably because I offered to test and return the cards instead of outright buy.

Any idea the cost $ of the 1060 and 1070?

Were you testing on M18x or AW18? I was hoping on getting a 1070 for my AW18 so if they don't physically fit, that would kinda be a problem :(

Edit: Got the answer to my question regarding which one you tested by reading your thread, also see the price of the 1060 was around 600 euro. I still have hope the 1070 will fit the AW18.

I also never got a response regarding testing in AW17, but that doesn't matter at this point. Seems they've found one and I sold mine lol
