id like to upgrade my dual 460M 1.5gb to something better. they have NV 75W coolers on them, and id prefer not to replace them just to keep costs low. :)

Are you looking for dual GPUs or single?

Two preferably, but just one isnt off of the table. like if a since 880M + new cooler is most cost effective than dual 75 Watt video cards, id go with the 880M. you know? :)

I think 780M SLI is the best you can do with dual cards, best asking @Raidriar as he has one. I'm not sure if the issues with the 880M were ever fixed, so i'd suggest going for the 780M instead providing it works.

Would i need to upgrade my heatsinks?
its just that i recently had to buy a new hard drive ribbon cable, and after shipping and import fees it was 50$ :L and looking online its close to 100$ per heatsink D: is it that much of an improvement over a 75W gpu?

Are those heat sinks 2 or 3 heat pipes? Upgrading would lower temps but i think they should be fine without an upgrade as long as you make sure the contact is nice and snug. High quality thermal pads and a thin copper shim is a good idea.

Looking at the heat sinks actually there doesn't seem to be that much difference. You will be fine with the 75W heat sinks.

dont remember, i just remember them both having NV75W stickers on them. and i wouldnt want to get them and then see them overheat or something.

are the 770M's that much worse?

The 780M is quite a bit faster. I'd suggest going for the 780Ms simply because for some games you may have to run without SLI if they do not support it. Temps are unlikely to cause an issue if you keep V Sync on especially, since both cards will not be running at 100% usage. If you are unsure though i'd ask Raidriar since he used to have 780Ms i believe.

That said though, even the 770M is a huge upgrade from 460M SLI.

yeah thats what i was thinking. plus 770M's would allow me to gamestream from it, (nvidia shield portable ftw)

780M seems to roughly go for 350CAD - 400CAD, and the 770 seems to go for closer to 300-350cad , which for two of them is 100$ cheaper at least, and if you factor in the heatsink upgrade, (which without the 100W heatsink i think id be alittle uncomfortable with) so saving atleast 300$ i think
