IS this XPM based RAm likely to work with 32GB installed in m18xr2?

    Kingston HyperX Impact Black 16GB(2x8GB) 1866MHz CL11 SODIMM HX318LS11IBK2/16
any suggestions for alternatives if not? Im having troubles finding the older referenced PnP stuff that was known to be good

    Thanks

    I find this: DDR3 PC3-14900 • 10-10-10-30 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1866 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 • on Crucials Site
comes up as ballistix sport and only in 1.35V, is this what you run successfully?

Impact will probably work fine, but I don't know anyone using it in the M18xR2. I do know @residualvoltage had Impact overclocked to 2400MHz in the Alienware 18, but the M18xR2 doesn't seem to want to run faster than 2133.

I am running 32GB of this memory in my M18xR2 with excellent results:

    CORSAIR Vengeance Performance 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3L 2133 (PC3L 17000) Laptop Memory Model CMSX16GX3M2B2133C11

You're not likely to notice any difference in how the laptop "feels" using faster memory. Adding more memory if you don't have enough is helpful, but increasing the memory clock speed is not something that makes you go "wow, that was awesome" or anything on that order of magnitude. It won't have an appreciable impact on gaming, but it does slightly improve benchmark results where memory speed is measured.

latency is improved even just loading windows to the desktop or open folders and applications actually. I noticed a snappier response once on 2400mhz. As for HyperX Impact the handling from my testing is as follows. No 8gb hyperx impact sticks ran 2400mhz for me. The added amount of ram needs more than 1.35/1.5v standard when used in haswell/ivybridge mobile chipset. The 4gb HyperX impact modules are stable at 2400mhz 12-13-14 and even now on 11-13-13 timings on 1.35v/1.5v stock of the haswell/ivy bridge mobile chipsets. My recent testing got me to CR1 2400mhz quad channel stable. There seems to be an issue on M18x R2 loading above the 2133mhz ram multiplier. I may still send Mr.Fox a ram stick dump that doesnt have the xmp programmed but the SPD table set for 2400mhz. I had to do that for Alien 18 as xmp doesnt exist on my Alien 18 bios I wonder if this method will work better for M18x R2 as well @Mr. Fox

I got 4x 8gb sticks Of impact ram on my machine. I dont overclock the ram and as far as i can tell I'ts working fine @ 2133 here is a screenshot.

I didnt mess with anything in the bios. Everything is set to Auto.

Keep in mind, mines are 2133 version and not 1866 but my guess is those will work also.

It may work like that. I might try using the same timings from the XMP profiles into the standard SPD and see what happens. I notice in the M18xR2 BIOS that on the standard performance menu the speeds stop at 2133, but on the unlocked (second) performance menu it goes to like 2666. Since the P570WM BIOS does not even go to 2400, but still runs when programmed, it could work that way for the M18xR2 as well.
Good to know you have Impact memory and it is working as advertised.
