The keybaord itself seems fine but I'm having a small issue with the number 4 key. It only registers if I press it harder than the other keys. If I do a quick stroke it does not register. None of the other keys do that. It's pretty annoying. It registers but it just requires more effort than the other keys. Any help would be appreciated.

common issue for keys to go rouge on ya there..

    1. you should get a can of air and clean your keyboard.. ( might be particles of food in there)

    2. lightly pry at the key and see if it is loose.. (if it is press firmly in the center of the key until you hear a slight snap sound. but dont press to hard!)

    3. check to see if your F4 key is working.. its uncommon for for the keyboard to shift but if you pulled out the keyboard for any reason it might not of been put back in properly.

    4. if you did remove the keyboard try reseating the ribbon cable.

if all that fails contact alienware support and let them know what is going on. they should have no problem sending you a keyboard or a tech to replace it.. if its undr warranty that is.

I got button [L] almost falling off of my keyboard due to frequent typing I guess and wear and tear, and Alienware was like no hassle at all to send me in the replacement keyboard in a matter of days. Excellent service AW

I had same issue and opposite issue with my m18xr1. First keyboard, pressing t would not register, unless I press really hard, on second keyboard slightly touching a will register it, even neighbouring key press registered a. Had to replace keyboard each time.

Yup i've had the same issues with my keyboard in the past. Just give dell a call and they will send out a new keyboard. Or worst case scenario if you are no longer under warranty then you can purchase one off of ebay for like $30 or less. I have purchased quite a few before off of ebay and they work great.

    Cheers. :)
