    I have 6990m cfx already but...

    Hi, this morning the m18x arrived. As I have done a copy of my ex m18x I put the ssd in teh new, but I had a surprise, Aida 64 and Gpuz only recognize two 6970m :confused: , but I can see this [​IMG]

    Do they cheat me??? :eek: :eek: Could be two 6970 refurbished, unlocked???

    Here you have th Bios Ati 6990m

    from the looks of it I would say yes, you can see by the release date that its not just a name typo.. unless the release date is also a typo but im pretty sure thats not the case

    The shader and clocks are 6990. Most likely GPU-z needs an update to show the new chip correctly. You probably really do have 6990s.

    I would call them up and complain, personally I think you deserve an upgrade or money back for the trouble... I say this but dont get your hopes up because they dont throw compensation for their own mistakes around very much

    Also hes asking if their just overclocked 6970s because it sure looks like it to me

    Don't worry you have 6990M's please run vantage and you will see all the software don't recognize new cards yet :)

    This can and does happen when a new/updated chip first comes out. Tools like Aida and GPU-z need a small update to recognize the new gpu. Right now they are just reading an AMD 6970 version with more shaders and a higher clock because that's all the tool "knows" at the moment. Like I said, when Aida and GPU-z release a update, it will show the model correctly. Congrats, you have one of the first 6990s!

    I still go with they're oc'ed 6970s, if the bios also sees them as such, and running benches on a 6990 and a 6970 oc'ed to a 6990 clock would give pretty much the same results so it's really a waste of time to figure out that way

    Yes, I have BIOS02, doesnt not suppose that this bios should recognize it? Is there anybody with a 6990?

    Pd Im downloading vantage (my conex its too slow)

    I'm sorry, but I really doubt this is just an over-clocked 6970. First, Dell doesn't ship OC'ed 6970s. Its not even an option. Second, its hard to fake a shader count.

    Dude this happens all the time new chipsets or cores are not recognized right by software even by bios because they need to implement the device id or updates so please let this guy alone and we can see some benchmarks :)

    Si puedes correr unigine pero vantage nos daria un mejor ejemplo de la diferiencia en poder entre la 6970 y 6990 :)

    unigine is fine but we need to see vantage to have a better idea on performance between the 6970 and 6990 :)

    If I set the resolution to 1280x1024 the fps stay at 60, doesnt rise

    Jejej, 18 minutes left. One thing, pcMark vantage test is windowed? not full screen?

    Another thing, I dont use the original hdd, I put the copy that I made to my ex m18x to run this (I cant wait!!) could afect to the performance (all things seems to be installed well)

    don't forget to set vantage to performance and turn off the feature tests that way is not to long here is a 6970-cf stock vantage for comparison
