Hello. I currently own M18X i7-2720QM with 8gig of Kingston Hyper X Rams, dual 6990m, and 128 crucial M4... I had the system about 8 months now and it's been a blast - i loved it since they day i layed my lands on it and until this very day. However, lately I have been having some concerns regarding how future proof this is... Laptops from alienware, i assume due to high cost, and thanks to quick developement of tech - value deappreciates greatly over time...

If the laptop would be another 2-3 yrs future proof im planning to keep it and get some peace of mind (moderate gaming at high setttings 1920x1080). Another part of me is convincing me that i should sell the laptop and make what i can before value goes down even greater and just build a desktop or wait for M18X R2...

Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

I think the hardware in the M18x is more futureproof than something you can build in a desktop at a relatively close price point. Especially considering a single 6990m or 580m can High-Max most new games. I had my Xfire off on my overclocked 6970Ms and I didn't notice a performance drop in any games except BF3

That shouldn't even be an issue. I'm hoping with the new video cards coming out that we might be able to swap them into our machines and processors we always have the extreme core that we could upgrade to without any problems.
