I have started havin this problem with my alienware & Steam. Most of my games installed on my laptop are to a second harddrive. I have about 60 games loaded threw the steam app on this drive. Lately I have had a few games crash which in itself is no big deal but when they do windows can no longer see that second drive. I have to reboot in order for the drive to come back up. Any ideas as to whats happening?

How many times has it happened? Is it repeatable? Have you checked for loose cables and connectors?

No I haven't opened it up and checked the cables but I have found out threw other spots on this forum that the hard drive is going bad. I am trying now to backup my data & games that I can so I do not have to download everything again. I did download SeaTools and test it and it confirms that its bad. Will get another one ordered from dell tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that. An M18x couldn't be much more than a year old and HDD's are already going bad.. No warranty left on that?

Please let us know how it goes. Hopefully it's just a bad drive.
