Does the M18X have registry entries that stop you installing GPU drivers that aren't supplied by Dell?

If so, will a clean install of Windows remove these entries? or do you need to do some kind of registry sweep/clean?

What are the advantages/disadvantages of not using the Dell drivers? (apart from the fact that you don't have to wait months to get outdated drivers)

    Thanks.

I don't believe there are any registry entries that prevent you from installing GPU drivers from a factory install. I know for a fact that a fresh install has zero problems with installing GPU drivers. The Advantage of using a GPU driver that isn't listed on Dell's support page is that it's actually functional. You will easily get a higher 3dmark11 score, much better FPS and the ability to install Caps for specific games. I don't believe too many people stay on factory default drivers unless they don't understand how to install them or have no need to.

This is the latest from ATI

Thanks for that. I'll be getting 6990M CF with mine but i've been nVidia since my first PC so it will be a bit of a learning curve I think.
