Are many people going to ride out your setup for awhile? I usually like to get 3 years out of a system before replacing but have found myself wondering if I should make the upgrade to the 680 SLI just because of how big the performance difference is. I don't think there will be any major jump for awhile as the next gen cards arrive just because Kepler is new and is on a 28nm fab process. So I think the next few performance jumps will be more incremental. I usually like to pounce on technology when it's fresh to get the best return-on-investment.

However, on the other hand, there aren't too many games that are not maxable with my current rig. GTA IV is a mess but I would assume is also a mess with any video cards. BF3 maxes fine but it's at the "borderline." Same with Crysis 2. I think the 680s would completely solve that as the FPS are well above 60.

Finally, I am kinda wanting to ride this out just because new consoles should arrive in the next 1.5 years. When that occurs, along with the current trend to just port console to PC, I don't think it would matter if I had 580s or 680s as they are going to need some real horsepower that will only be had in a top of the line rig after they are released.

So my gut feeling is to keep this system and let things play out over the next year or so. What are you guys/gals thinking of doing? Just wondering opinions and to chat about the topic. Peace.

I would have no issue keeping 580M sli. Not many games really need more power than what they provide.

^^^ And the price you are paying for the 6970m + the price you will pay after a year to upgrade to 680m will cost you much more than you would have just both them right now and enjoyed them for the full year :D
